The DDS – Double Detection System is an innovative and advanced measurement and classification system able to assess whether in an inspection area on a conveyor belt the transiting items have been properly singularized.
In the logistic/postal centers the item singularization before shipping is a key issue and a very high success rate is required.
The singularization process is usually performed by means of a sequence of suitable mechanical modules and its effectiveness is highly related to their quantity.
This means that in order to achieve an acceptable success rate it is necessary to install several modules that occupy a large area.
The DDS checks the singularization results and can be used to implement either an open-loop or a closed-loop control system.
The latter represents the most interesting solution as it permits by the implementation of a suitable control logic to reduce the quantity of modules without decreasing the system throughput.
DDS systems are currently operating in several sites in UK, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
